Hello,

Apperently there is a bug in Windows 10 Schedular affecting AMD Threadripper CPU 32 core model 2990wx:

[..]

What seems to be happening is that 50% of the threads are just switching from core to core without doing any real work. "Thread juggling" as a commentor called it.

This bug will affect some programs which actually try to use 32 or 64 threads.

Problem seems to be with "ideal cpu" hint for schedular. (These hints are somehow set bad by the schedular ?)

There is even a tool that tries to fix it by dynamically trying to fix it. These cpu hints should also be set dynamically apperently.

This tool is called: "CorePrio"

^ So far the story goes ^

But here is my take on it.

If Microsoft developers can't even figure out that 50% of the threads are spinning around not doing any real work and just jumping from core to core than you know Microsoft is in trouble.

One of their main developers left... Sinofsky or something like that... perhaps this guy might have noticed this problem and might even have fixed it months ago ?!

So what worries me is apperently the complete incompetence of Microsoft currently to detect/find and fix this issue, almost laughable.

I can understand that a new scheduling algorithm would have to be properly tested, but so far there has be no hint what so ever that there was a problem, either they kept it quiet (?!?) or didn't know about (?!?)

Surely Microsoft purchased this latest and greatest (high-end consumer-level) chip from AMD to test their windows on ? Perhaps they didn't (?!?)

Seems very fishy to me to be honest ;)

Though another explanation could be "malicious/evil intent" to stiffen competition from AMD vs Intel.

Now you know ! And knowing is half the battle ! G.I.Joooooooooe ! =D ;) =D

Here is the most amazing thing:

I AM NOT AMAZED BY THIS AT ALL LOL.

Windows does strange things ! ;) Maybe even EVIL THINGS ! ;) =D

What's even more funny is: LINUX DOES NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM ! =D

All your base belong to LINUX LOL.

Bye,
Skybuck.

P.S.: Keep in mind this has not yet been official confirmed AFAIK.

Your post is now becoming a bit boring, Skybuck.. Maybe you could
try to be less predictable next time.
